We are seeking an early to mid-career Data Scientist with a strong Physics/Math/Computer Science/Data Science background to work in the areas of machine learning, signal/image processing and detection, computer vision, physics-based modeling, and data analysis. This is a full-time, exempt, non-supervisory position which can be based in our Northridge, CA or Falls Church, VA offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Research, develop, and test custom AI/ML-based algorithms
• Train Deep Neural Network (DNN) and feature-based algorithms for classification and regression on imagery and high-dimensional data
• Work with software engineers to implement your algorithms in real-time on a variety of high-performance, CPU and GPU-based computing hardware
• Quantify the effectiveness of your algorithms and present your results to the team and customers

Experiences and Background We Look For:

• A degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or data science
• Proficiency in Python
• Demonstrated Python development of custom DNNs and algorithm streams with packages such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, Gymnasium, and OpenCV
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate with small teams
• Willingness to work onsite in the office 100%
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance and program access

Nice to Have:

• Coding of recurrent neural nets, reinforcement learning, transformer nets
• Use of Large Language Models (LLMs) for generation of code and documentation, as well as coding of natural language interfaces, including fine tuning and ingestion of custom knowledge bases
• Experience with remote sensing (Electro-Optics, RADAR, LIDAR, SONAR) and military applications
• Experience with physical data and physics-based simulation
• Image and signal processing, computer vision
• Demonstrated experience with C/C++ programming
• GPU programming, parallel programming, and code optimization
• Active SSBI and TS/SCI eligibility

The salary range for this role depends on the candidate’s level of professional experience:

• Data Scientist 1: $90,000 - $120,000 [required BS degree or higher]
• Data Scientist 2: $105,000 - $135,000 [minimum experience of BS+2 years, OR MS+0 years]
• Staff Data Scientist: $120,000 - $150,000 [minimum experience of BS+5 years, MS+3 years, or PhD+0 years
