Job Description:

This role involves defining and leading the engineering approach for complex features to achieve significant business outcomes. Key responsibilities include delivering complex features and technology, enabling development efficiencies, providing technical thought leadership through multiple software implementations, and applying a broad range of technical competencies. The role is also accountable for end-to-end solution design and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that the design and engineering approach for complex features align with the larger portfolio solution.
  2. Define the technology tool stack for solutions and evaluate new testing tools, frameworks, and practices for the team(s).
  3. Enable teams/applications with CI/CD capabilities and collaborate with technical stakeholders on pipeline efficiency.
  4. Guide teams on design and best practices for high code performance, including pairing and code reviews.
  5. Deliver end-to-end automation and complex features at the program level, potentially across multiple teams.
  6. Conduct research, design prototyping, and explore new toolsets for release management, CI/CD, and features.
  7. Work with stakeholders to establish high-level solution needs and collaborate with architects on technical requirements.

Position Summary:

This is a Senior Software Engineer position within the Bank of America Authentication Technology team . The team manages identity and access across multiple channels, including mobile, desktop, IVR, and contact centers. We seek a hands-on engineering professional to support key initiatives such as migrating to cloud and containers. The candidate should have experience building high-volume authentication systems, managing all layers of the stack, and a passion for clean, defect-free code. Innovation, problem-solving, and participation in ideation sessions are expected, including filing patents.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, proficient in at least one statically typed language (Java or C++) and one dynamically typed language (Groovy or Python).
  • 5+ years of experience leading and mentoring engineers.
  • 5+ years of experience building high-volume web applications.
  • Bachelors degree in computer science or related field.
  • Experience in deploying applications in cloud environments and containers.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and business discussions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in Identity and Access Management, server-side frameworks like Spring MVC, and building RESTful web services.
  • Proficiency in multiple JVM languages and JVM performance tuning.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and distributed caching frameworks.
  • Background in mathematics or statistics.
  • Agile team process experience.
  • Open-source contributions.

Pay range: $119,000.00 - $200,400.00 annualized salary, with offers based on experience, education, and skills. The role is eligible for discretionary incentives and benefits, including paid time off and other resources to support employee well-being and community impact.
